Parish, Rogers Find Double Figures, Golden Eagles Fall 56-46

SHAWNEE, Okla. (January 17, 2013) - The Golden Eagles received outstanding play from senior guard Anna Parish and sophomore guard Lauren Rogers as each netted 10 points, but the Lady Bison of Oklahoma Baptist used a 31-23 first-half scoring margin to take the 56-46 victory Thursday night in Shawnee.

Rogers finished 3-of-7 from the field as all three conversions came from behind the arc. Parish finished 2-of-5 from the field, but went 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Sophomore forward Morgan Ankrom finished with a game-high nine rebounds.

John Brown led by as much as five points in the second half before 10 turnovers began to plague JBU. The Lady Bison completed a 13-point turnaround, sporting an eight-point advantage to close out the first stanza.

Rogers led the Golden Eagles with six points at the break, but John Brown was only able to manage a 5-of-20 shooting clip in the first 20 minutes (25.0 percent) while OBU converted at a 48.0 percent pace, draining 12-of-25 shots attempted.

The second half featured an Oklahoma Baptist lead that would balloon to 12 points before John Brown made its run. Down nine, 45-36, with 8:39 remaining in the game, the Golden Eagles pieced together a 8-1 run, whittling the Lady Bison lead to two, 46-44. With only 3:06 left in regulation, OBU countered with a streak of its own, capping off the contest on a 10-2 run, handing John Brown a 56-46 defeat.

JBU committed 10 turnovers in each half, but also forced 17 Oklahoma Baptist miscues. OBU landed a narrow rebounding margin, winning the battle of the boards, 18-17. The John Brown three-point defense was outstanding, limiting the Lady Bison to a 1-of-17 shooting night from beyond the arc.

With the loss, JBU moves to 7-10 on the season and 2-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. Oklahoma Baptist ups its conference record to 2-3 including an overall mark of 9-7.

The ladies will return to the hardwood on Saturday, Jan. 19, in a matinee matchup with Mid-America Christian (Okla.). Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m.
