Symphony of Northwest Arkansas to Perform at JBU
SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (Feb. 25, 2019) – John Brown University again welcomes the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA) on Sunday, March 10, at 3 p.m. in the Berry Performing Arts Center for an encore performance of the Masterworks III: Bach & Beethoven program that will be performed at the Walton Arts Center on March 9.
Under the baton of Paul Haas, the concert will feature award-winning violinists Zsolt Eder and Miho Oda Sakon performing Bach's Concerto for Two Violins. Also on the program are Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 and Christopher Cerrone's "High Windows."
Eder, a Hungarian violinist, has performed all over the world, from Australia to Asia to North and South America. He's the professor of violin and viola at Washburn University and the concertmaster of the Topeka Symphony Orchestra. He also teaches free lessons to kids at UMKC Academy's Musical Bridges Program.
Sakon is the principal second violin with SoNA and has performed with the Artosphere Festival Orchestra, the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra, the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to being a part of SoNa's ImagiMusic education program, she's an Artist in Residence at the Suzuki Music School in Arkansas and performed over 500 educational outreach concerts in Japan.
SoNA is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1954, providing over a half century of musical performances and educational opportunities throughout Northwest Arkansas.
