Symphony of Northwest Arkansas to Perform at JBU
SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (Feb. 21, 2017) – John Brown University welcomes the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA), under the baton of Paul Haas, on Sunday, March 5 at 3 p.m. in the Berry Performing Arts Center in an encore performance of the Masterworks II: Beethoven 5 program that will be performed at the Walton Arts Center on March 4.
The concert will feature award-winning violinist Alexi Kenney performing Jean Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, Op. 47. Also on the program are Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C Minor and Arvo Pärt’s “Fratres” for strings and percussion.
Kenney, winner of the 2013 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2015, and has been praised for his “beautiful, aching tone” by Strings magazine for a performance of the Sibelius Concerto with the China Philharmonic Orchestra in Beijing.
