Volleyball Wrestles with Friends and Benedictine

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (September 7, 2013) -- John Brown enters Saturday's (Sept. 7) matches with an overall record of 4-5 and, for the second time this season, will look to eclipse the .500 plateau with a pair of matches today against Friends (Kan.) and a rematch with Benedictine (Kan.).

The Falcons have only played three games this season, well behind the nine matches JBU boasts. Friends earned a five-set victory over NCAA III Minnesota at Morris before splitting matches on day one of the Baker Invitational.

Friends (2-1) quickly handled Sterling (Kan.) before landing a 3-0 sweep at the hands of host Baker.

Benedictine (2-7) hasn't fared well since losing to JBU to open its season. The Ravens have lost six of its eight matches, four of which have come in sweeping fashion.

Karlie Dalton and Ashley Voudrie pace the Raven offense with 38 kills apiece while Morgan Ogorzaly has piled up 28 put-downs so far this season. The Benedictine defense is anchored by Chelsea Beckman's 69 digs. Emily Clark runs the BU offense, landing 146 assists to date, averaging six helpers per game.

John Brown will take on Friends at 9:00 a.m. before tangling with Benedictine in a 5:00 p.m. showdown.
