Williamson Nabs Libero of the Week Accolades

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (September 18, 2013) -- Senior defensive specialist Staci Williamson has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference Libero of the Week for Sept. 9-15, conference officials announced today.

Joining Williamson with weekly volleyball honors are Wayland Baptist's Grecia Rivera, who earned the overall Player of the Week. Additionally, Southwestern A.G.'s teammates Jessica Sodich and Taylor Calverley were named Setter and Hitter of the Week, respectively.

Williamson averaged 4.39 digs for the Golden Eagles over five matches. The Siloam Springs native also held a .982 service percentage, which including two aces while landing a .949 reception percentage for the week.

The senior contributed a total of 79 digs over five matches as Williamson appeared in all 18 sets the Golden Eagles played. John Brown went 1-4 in five matches over the course of the week.

"Staci has become an anchor in our defense," head coach Stacie Johnson said. "She is a strong leader for our back row. Her perseverance and drive allow her to get difficult balls up and playable for her teammates."

Rivera, a senior outside hitter from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, led the Pioneers to a 4-0 week and the best start (12-2) in school history with 3.46 kills and 3.23 digs per game. She led WBU to wins over Tabor (Kan.), York (Neb.), Ozarks (Mo.) and Kansas Wesleyan while recording six aces, seven block assists and seven assists for the week.

Sodich, a junior from Arlington, Texas, averaged four kills to go along with 2.8 digs per game to help SAGU to wins over St. Mary (Kan.), Ozarks, York and McPherson (Kan.). She also had four blocks, seven aces and two assists.

Finally, Calverley, a senior from Mansfield, Texas, averaged 9.53 assists in addition to 10 blocks, 31 digs and six aces on the week.
