Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 10, 2011) - The JBU men’s soccer team fell to 0-5 on the year after losing 4-0 to No. 23 Columbia (Mo.), during the final match of the 2011 Quality Inn JBU Fall Classic.

In the first period, Columbia (4-1) quickly took control of the match when Brian Eike and Yudai Yamaguchi paired up to find Dylan Barduzzi in the box at the 14:55 mark for the 1-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles stepped up their defense for most of the half, but a breakdown in the 40th allowed Parker Rawdon to score off the header making it 2-0 Cougars.  Then just before halftime, Eike scored off the contribution from Nikola Velickovic and Adam McChesney to widen the gap.

For most of the second half, neither team could find an opening, but in the 81st minute Eike broke free and dribbled past several defenders before zipping a shot by JBU’s keeper Pablo Garcia.

For the match, both teams had 15 shots, but CC took a 10-4 advantages in shots-on-goal.  Garcia earned six saves, while Matt McKenna picked up four saves for CC.

Up next, JBU travels to Wichita, Kan. to face Friends University on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
