Men Fall in Season Opener

Atchison, Kan. (August 27, 2011) - The JBU men’s soccer team came up empty on Saturday night as they fell 0-3 against Benedictine (Kan.) in their first match of the 2011 season.

After a scoreless first half, Benedictine (1-0) came to life and managed to hold the Golden Eagles at bay, while stepping up their offensive attack.

Greg Kyle scored the first BU goal in the 61st minute, followed by goals in the 83rd and 85th minutes by Joe Sbarro and Kenneth Clarizo.

The Ravens out shot JBU 21-5 with a 13-3 shots on goal advantage.

The men return to competition on Friday, Sept. 2 when they travel to Jackson, Tenn. to compete in the two-day Union University Classic.  On Friday, JBU takes on Notre Dame (Ohio) at 5 p.m. and return on Saturday to face Reinhardt (Ga.) again at 5 p.m.
