Women's Soccer Ranked Third in SAC Poll

JBU returns nine lettermen with the addition of a crop of newbies to the 2011 roster.

Siloam Springs, Arkansas (August 16, 2011) - The JBU women’s soccer team was picked third after receiving 92 votes in the 2011 Preseason Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Poll released Monday.

The Lady Eagles finished the 2010 season with a 15-5-1 record overall and second place finish in the SAC after posting a 9-2 record in conference play.  The team also earned a spot in the NAIA National Tournament for a second time in the history of the program.

Oklahoma City picked up every possible first-place vote in the poll and had a perfect score of 121. They finished the 2010 season at 19-3-1 and claimed the SAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships after going a perfect 11-0 in conference play. 

Finishing second in the poll is Southern Nazarene (10-9-1, 6-4-1 last season) with the remaining first-place vote and 95 points.

John Brown was ranked third, followed by Oklahoma Baptist (8-7-4, 5-3-3) at 80, Mid-America Christian (16-4-1, 8-2-1) at 79, Rogers State (10-7-1, 6-4-1) at 78, USAO (10-7-1, 6-5) at 76 and Lubbock Christian (9-8-2, 3-6-2) at 54.

Ranked ninth was Oklahoma Christian with 45 points, followed by Northwestern at 32, St. Gregory’s at 24 and Wayland Baptist with 16.

The Lady Eagles open the year at home on Friday, August 26 when they take on Bethel (Tenn.) at 3 p.m. at Alumni Field.  For the complete 2011 schedule, click here.
