Rakestraw Earns Academic Honors

Coleson Rakestraw has been named Capital One First-team Academic All-District. Rakestraw has a 3.95 GPA as an engineering major.

Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 4, 2011) - JBU men’s basketball player Coleson Rakestraw of Siloam Springs, Ark. has been named Capital One First-team Academic All-District® for the College Division of Region VI.  The College Division team combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

Rakestraw, a sophomore engineering major with a 3.95 GPA, has started in every JBU basketball game since his freshman year and is currently the team’s third leading scorer with 11.6 points per game.  He also ranks 18th in the nation in total three pointers made on the year with 56 and 25th in three point shooting percentage with a 42.1 percent average.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees will advance to the national Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where First, Second and Third Team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.  The Capital One Academic All-America® Team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
