Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 2, 2010) - Both JBU women’s and men’s soccer teams were defeated by Southern Nazarene (Okla.) on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. The women lost 4-3 in overtime, while the men were blanked 2-0.

In ladies action, Jackie Acevedo secured the hat trick after scoring the game winning goal in overtime. JBU took an early 1-0 lead after Cam Martin scored in the fifth minute. JBU went ahead by a goal off the foot of Natiel Bauer via Camille Malkiewicz in the 68th, and Ashley Cochran gave the Eagles a two-goal cushion when she scored JBU’s third in the 82nd with Jodi Knack securing her second assist of the day.

SNU wouldn’t be finished, however, and tied things up after scoring two goals in the final eight minutes of play to force overtime. Acevedo tied it up in the 83rd , and Kira Dowis forced overtime with a goal in the 89th.

The loss drops the 18th ranked Eagles to 5-2-1 overall and 1-1 in SAC play.

Up next, both teams continue SAC play when they travel to face St. Gregory’s (Okla.) on Wednesday. The women play at 2 p.m. and the men at 4 p.m.
