Volleyball falters on the road

Bethany, Okla. (September 21, 2010) - The JBU women’s volleyball team loss their first conference match of the year on Tuesday night after falling 2-3 to Southern Nazarene (Okla.) at the Sawyer Center in Bethany. The ladies drop to 9-7 overall and 1-1 in the SAC.

It was a see-saw battle throughout the match. JBU claimed sets one and three (25-20 and 25-21) and had a chance to put it away after leading in the fourth, but SNU (10-7, 1-1) managed to rally for the win and force a final set.

SNU jumped out to an early lead in the fifth and never looked behind claiming the final set 15-10.

Individually, sophomore Erin Didier paced the Golden Eagles with 16 kills followed by freshman Staci Williamson with 11. Senior Alyssa Hanson had 42 assists.

Defensively, Williamson led the team with 19 digs to go along with two blocks.

The ladies return home on Thursday night to face SAC foe Oklahoma City. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Bill George Arena.
