Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 1, 2010) - The Golden Eagles return to SAC action this week beginning with Oklahoma City University at home on Thursday at 8 p.m. The team then travels to Oklahoma to face Mid-America Christian University on Saturday at 8 p.m.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES: After returning from a 1-1 week in the Texas Panhandle with a 15-7 overall record and 7-7 conference record, the JBU men are tied for 7th in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings.

In their first matchup this week, the Golden Eagles face the OCU Stars. In their first meeting this year, JBU defeated OCU 69-64 in a heated battle in Abe Lemons Arena. Several JBU players finished in double digits in that game, led by Davaughn Jackson’s 17 point.

On Saturday, JBU looks to exact revenge on Mid-America Christian. The Evangels knocked off the Golden Eagles 101-82 in Murray Sells earlier in the year. This was the only time a team has broken the century mark on JBU this season.

Jackson continues to lead JBU in scoring and rebounding with 15.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

As a team, JBU shoots 48% from the field while averaging 77.1 points per game. Defensively they hold their opponents to 42.4% and a 70.7 point per game average. JBU continues to receive votes in the NAIA national poll.

ABOUT THE OCU STARS: The Stars return to action this week after having an unplanned vacation due to icy weather last week. Prior to their break in action, OCU defeated No. 3 Oklahoma Baptist 69-67 on Jan. 23. Chris Brown, a 6-foot senior from Spencer, Okla., leads the team with an 18.6 scoring average. The Stars rank fifth in the NAIA in blocked shots per game (5.21). Bryant Williams leads the SAC and ranks eighth nationally with 2.36 blocks per contest.

Currently 9-5 overall and 7-4 in the SAC, the Stars are fourth in the SAC standings. They were picked to finish sixth behind JBU. OCU is also receiving votes nationally. ABOUT THE MACU EVANGELS: The Evangels have definitely turned things around this season as they are top contenders in the SAC with a 12-9 overall record and 8-5 SAC record. With a balanced scoring attack, MACU has three players average in double figures with Charlie Shorter, a 6-0 sophomore guard from Dallas, leading the way with 15.7 points per game. Shorter also leads in the rebounding category with 4.7 per game. The Evangels are coming off a 1-1 week where they held off Science and Arts of Okla. 74-72 but lost to No. 6 Southern Nazarene (Okla.) 100-95 in a high scoring affair. MACU is also receiving votes in the NAIA national poll.
