Women stunned by Lady Stars

Oklahoma City (January 9, 2010) - The JBU women’s basketball team lost 94-45 against seventh ranked Oklahoma City on Saturday in Abe Lemons Arena. The women fall to 7-9 overall and 3-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference with the loss.

Junior Ashley Taylor scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds to lead JBU in scoring.

Starr Fairbanks tallied a game high 22 points and four rebounds to lead OCU (11-3, 6-1).

The Stars led from the tip and outscored the Eagles 52-14 in the first half.

JBU increased their scoring effort in the second half, but OCU continued their assault while cruising to the 49 point win.

For the game, JBU only knocked down 26 percent (16-61) from the floor, while giving up 55 percent (34-62) to OCU. OCU forced JBU to commit 23 turnovers and also outrebounded the Eagles 43-32.

JBU returns to the road on Thursday to face No. 5 Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee. Game time is 6 p.m.
