N. Little Rock, Ark. (September 21, 2009) - After a successful day one at the Harding (Ark.) Bison Fall Classic, the JBU men’s golf team sits in fifth out of 14 teams with a first round score of 297.

Arkansas Ft. Smith leads the field after a first round score of eight-under-par with a 280.

Individually, sophomore West Loveland is sitting in seventh place overall after shooting a two-under-par 70. Other JBU performers include freshman Taylor Mullings and sophomore Matt Brooker tied with 73. Freshman Nathan Sudheimer was nine-over with 81, and junior Jeff Hoble finished with an 82.

Head coach Brian Thomas said that he’s pleased with the day one results but would like to see the team move up on Tuesday.

“There are several NCAA Division II schools in this tournament, and we’re doing really well to be the top NAIA school at this point,” said Thomas. “So we’ll have to be even better tomorrow in order to move up.”

The tournament concludes on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles tee off at 9:30 a.m.
