Netters pick up two over weekend

Junior setter Alyssa Hanson tallied 39 assist in the Evangel Quad Meet.

Springfield, Mo. (September 12, 2009) - The JBU women’s volleyball team finished the weekend 2-1 at the Evangel (Mo.) Quad Meet. This moves the netters to 8-1 on the year.

In their first match last Friday, JBU quickly disposed of Bethel (Kan.) 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-18). They followed up that performance by taking down Bacone (Okla.) 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-21) in their second match.

On Saturday, they faced host Evangel falling 0-3 (21-25, 19-25, 18-25).

Offensively for the weekend, freshman Erin Didier and junior Kirsten Lee posted 25 kills a piece with a .217 and .235 hitting efficiency respectively. Senior Christi Newton added 19.

Senior Britney Kerns totaled 47 assisted followed by junior Alyssa Hanson with 39.

On the defensive side, senior Shannon Proctor picked up 39 digs and sophomore Sarah Jordan added 25 to go along with six service aces, while Newton tallied nine blocks.

JBU returns home on Tuesday against Oklahoma Wesleyan at 7 p.m.
