Netters Fall in Season Opener

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 3, 2008) - John Brown University women's volleyball opened the year with an 0-3 loss to College of the Ozarks (Mo.) on Wednesday evening.

C of O jumped out early claiming the first two games 25-20, 25-14. However, the Golden Eagles pushed the third game to a duel before eventually falling 31-29.

For the game, Laurae Marty led the team with 10 kills, and Alyssa Hanson and Britney Kerns earned 14 and 17 assists respectively.

On the defensive end, Aubrey Junker and Shannon Proctor picked up 12 and 13 digs respectively. Meanwhile, Marty and Amber Wilson gathered three blocks each.

The ladies look to shake off the loss when they travel to Baker University (Kan.) to compete in the two-day Baker Invitational. On Friday, the women play Benedictine (Kan.)at 3 p.m. and Baker at 7 p.m. And on Saturday they face Avila (Mo.) at 9 a.m. and William Jewell (Mo.) at 1 p.m.
