JBU SIFE Students to Appear on National Television

Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 22, 2008) - Three members of the John Brown University Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team have been invited to participate in the question-and-answer talk show, “America Talks,” on Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. SIFE past-president and ADVANCE Panama leader Valerie Wong, SIFE World Trade Expo Project Leader Ben Coffman and SIFE Webmaster Javier Ruiz will respond to inquiries about ADVANCE Panama, an international outreach program dedicated to advancing the economy in Latin America, and the projects developed in that community over the Christmas break. “There is still a lot of need in communities all over the world, but we can and will work to transform them through relief work such as ADVANCE Panama,” said Mirna Ordonez Sandoval, graduate assistant (Business and SIFE). “We hope that sharing what we do through ADVANCE Panama on ‘America Talks’ will encourage people to make a difference in their own communities.” Last December, the team had their first opportunity to participate in “America Talks” when Bill Stevenson, director of international programs and Business Advisory Board Member to JBU was approached by Carlos Pardeiro, chief executive officer of SafeTV®. The experience allowed the team to share with the local and international community, the outreach programs that the SIFE was working with as part of in ADVANCE Guatemala. “JBU SIFE is proud to be able to share ADVANCE Panama with viewers of ‘America Talks’,” said Joe Walenciak, JBU business professor and SIFE team advisor. “This television program allows our students to showcase their involvement in community work all over the world. We are thankful that JBU SIFE was chosen to be part of the talk show again. I know that the exposure gained for the SIFE team will open doors to new opportunities.” “America Talks” is a production of SafeTV® in Springdale, Ark. The show will be broadcast live via the Internet at www.safetv.org and on SkyAngel cable television. The show takes questions from the audience by telephone that are in turn presented to the panel guests to answer. To ask a question of the panel, call (888) 777-9392. America Talks has reached over 13 million homes throughout the world by its affiliation with the SkyAngel network.
