John Brown University Offers New MBA Degree

Siloam Springs, Ark (April 10, 2000) - On Friday, April 7, the John Brown University Board of Trustees approved a new Master of Business Administration degree. The MBA degree is an integrated program emphasizing both functional studies in business and training in leadership and ethics.

"Academia in general, and Christian higher education in particular, has not adequately addressed the need for ethical business leadership in contemporary organizations," said Dr. Joe Walenciak, Chairman of the Division of Business at JBU. "The MBA degree will instill Biblically-based values through dynamic, innovative curriculum, experiences, and other tools, while providing excellent functional instruction."

The Master of Business Administration degree will build upon a core of classes in ethical leadership and will integrate the values of Christian faith and character that can be practically applied within organizations. Upon this practical spiritual foundation, students will receive functional preparation, which will contribute to their intellectual and occupational effectiveness.

"There is an urgent need for leaders who have excellent business skills, strong personal integrity, and state-of-the art leadership training," said Walenciak. "The MBA degree seeks to transform and strengthen personal character and enhance specific capabilities in business."

The John Brown University MBA degree is part of the graduate studies program at JBU. Classes in the Master of Business Administration degree program will begin in the Fall 2000 semester.

John Brown University is private university with an enrollment of 1,500 students from 47 states and 33 countries. JBU is also a member of the Arkansas Independent Colleges and Universities as well as the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities.
