High School Conference Held at JBU

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 10, 2006) - John Brown University’s Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) will host 60 of the brightest and most driven students in the Northwest Arkansas area Nov. 17-18 at its second annual high school leadership conference. Liberty Bank of Arkansas is the corporate sponsor of the event.

“In business, politics and schools, America needs ethical leaders,” Daniel Silver, conference founder and coordinator, said. “We need people who place an emphasis on integrity, honesty, and the concept of doing good. These are the ideas that we are teaching at the leadership conference.”

Students will arrive on campus on Friday and attend sessions with a variety of speakers. Lynn Brewer, one of the whistle blowers in the Enron scandal, will speak on Friday along with Greg Hewett, vice president of Tyson’s international division, and Tom Pagnozzi, Founder/President of Pagnozzi Charities. Several others will also speak throughout the day.

“SIFE is blessed to have great speakers from all over the country,” Silver said. “It’s an honor to have a great group of people and businesses speak to the students on the importance of leadership, ethics and integrity in the community.”

On Saturday, students will get a chance to have a little fun while learning. They will participate in a race-type scavenger hunt in which students will apply what they learned in Friday’s sessions. Also on Saturday, two lucky students will win $1,000 scholarships to JBU.

Ten undergraduate members of JBU’s SIFE team helped organize this year’s event.
