Golden Eagles Finish with Conference Victory, 20 Wins

Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 25, 2006) - Kendra McCormick score 27 points to lead the John Brown Golden Eagles to a 64-58 Sooner Athletic Conference victory over Southern Nazarene Saturday night in Bethany, Okla. Lesli Fanning scored 11, and Alicia Baer added 10 for the Golden Eagles, who finished the regular season 20-10 overall and 12-6 in the SAC.

John Brown led 32-30 at halftime, and then shot 45% from the field and 92.3% from the free-throw line in the second half to close out the victory. The Golden Eagles finish the season tied with Lubbock Christian for third place in the conference. Both teams are still in the hunt for at-large bids to the NAIA Tournament should either fail to win the SAC Tournament next weekend in Shawnee, Okla. John Brown’s 20-win record does not hurt its chances.

Jamie Morgan and Christian Jackson scored 17 and 10 points, respectively, for Southern Nazarene (8-20, 4-14).
