JBU Women Drop 2OT Game to UCA

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 8, 2005) - Playing its fourth overtime game in a row, the John Brown University Golden Eagles fell 2-1 to Central Arkansas in double overtime Thursday in Siloam Springs. Things looked promising early for John Brown as Crystal Perez scored after a corner kick in the 2nd minute, but the Golden Eagles failed to capitalize on subsequent opportunities. Central Arkansas, ranked 6th in the NCAA Division II South Region, controlled the ball for most of the second half, and tied the game in the 57th minute with a goal by Lauren King. From there the game went into overtime and then double overtime. In the final minute of the second overtime, a John Brown defender scored an own goal while attempting to send the ball out of play, inadvertently giving the Sugar Bears (3-0) the win.

John Brown plays next Monday at 3:00 against Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla.
