Ms. Abby Dorman and Mr. Evan Gundy were named Mr. and Ms. JBU.

Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 25, 2005) - Senior youth ministries major Evan Gundy from Bixby, Okla. was named “Mr. JBU” at JBU’s annual student Junior-Senior banquet. Gundy’s parents are Doug and Ellen Gundy from Bixby, Okla. Senior intercultural studies major Abby Dorman was named “Ms. JBU.” Dorman’s parents are Dan and Debbie Dorman from Prairie Grove, Ark. “Winning the ‘Mr. JBU’ award was a surprise,” said Gundy. “It truly is an honor to receive this award, because I look at my freshman year and how unstable and immature I was. I see a boy who knew about Christ but had yet to experience a relationship with his Father in heaven. I see a boy who was scared of new things and meeting new people. But I look at myself now and see how the Lord has brought me through four years of college that are marked with transformation and restoration. JBU has been a place of discipleship and transformation. The relationships and the forming of my character are what are going to stick with me after I leave in May.” “JBU has been a place of friendship and accountability, growth and learning, Dorman said. “It has stretched my perspective on life and yet has given me a solid foundation from which to move forward. It is such an honor to represent our campus. Thanks JBU!” The student body of JBU nominates seniors for the awards. The top three nominations are brought before the student body for another vote to choose the two seniors who most represent JBU. John Brown University is a private Christian university, ranked 8th by U.S. News & World Report in the Southern Region. JBU enrolls more than 1,900 students from 43 states and 39 countries. JBU is a member of Arkansas’ Independent Colleges and Universities and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
