Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 18, 2005) - John Brown University’s art gallery will display works from the collection of American Realist Painter Timothy C. Tyler. The exhibit will run Friday, April 1-, Friday May 6 and is free and open to the public.  Regular art gallery hours are Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. A reception honoring Tyler will take place on Thursday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. in the art building foyer and gallery. The public is invited to attend. Since Tyler was fourteen years old, he has worked to create paintings that capture a moment of beauty. His sensitivity to color, craftsmanship and “a certain slant of light” has resulted in paintings critics and collectors have delighted in for almost thirty years. Tyler is currently exploring human themes and emotions in his paintings through myths and symbols. His still life and portrait art are formulated and painted directly from real life objects. Museums, collectors and art publications and organizations have long recognized Tyler as a fine American artist. His work hangs in the permanent collections of the Bennington Center for the Arts in Vermont and the Chrisholm Trail Museum in Oklahoma. He is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists and the Portrait Society of America. In 2001, Tyler’s work was included in the Renaissance Show and Sale at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and the American Art Classic at Houston, Texas. He has also been featured in The Artist’s Magazine. For more information, visit or or call JBU’s art department at (479) 238-8561.
