Women Unable to Pull Off Win on Senior Night

Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 21, 2005) - Seniors Caitlin Chandler and Michelle Gabbert played their final home game for the John Brown University women’s basketball team (14-13, 6-10 SAC) Monday night. The Golden Eagles were unable to pull off the win for the seniors, as they fell to Oklahoma Baptist 41-59.

JBU trailed for most of the first half until the 2:14 mark when free throws by Ashley Wettengel put them on top 21-20. The half ended in a tie, 23-23. In the second half, the Bison took the lead for good at the 9:37 mark, 34-36. Oklahoma Baptist made their free throws down the stretch to pull away with the 18 point win.

Leading scorer for JBU was Ashley Wettengel with 14. She also had five rebounds to lead the team. OBU was led in scoring by Tabetha Eaton with 16. JBU shot 25.5% from the field compared to OBU’s 43.9%.

The Golden Eagles are on the road for the last two regular season games. Thursday they travel to University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and Saturday to Northwestern Oklahoma State.
