JBU Women Lose Close One

Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 13, 2004) - The John Brown women’s basketball team traveled to Columbia, Missouri Saturday for their final game of the fall semester. Unfortunately, the 19th ranked Columbia Lady Cougars edged the Golden Eagles by two points to send the women into Christmas break with a 62-60 loss.

The game was dead even in stats for both teams, with JBU shooting 41.2% and the Cougars shooting 41.5% from the field. The Cougars led at half, 30-32. Both teams scored 30 in the second half, leaving JBU just short of taking the win.

Junior Kendra McCormick led scoring for the Golden Eagles with 20. She also had 3 rebounds in the game. Junior Lesli Fanning contributed 10 points and led the team with 4 rebounds. Junior Alicia Baer led the team in assists with 9.

The women will travel to Monterey, California for the Monterey Bay Classic on December 30th and 31st. Their next home game will be the start of the Sooner Athletic Conference play on January 6th against Southern Nazarene at 6:00 p.m.
