SIFE Team Hosts World Trade Expo

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 11, 2004) - Once again the buzz of young and eager entrepreneurs will fill the Northwest Arkansas Mall. John Brown University’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team will host the 2004 World Trade Expo for middle school students from northwest and central Arkansas on Friday, Nov. 12. From a pool of over 300 young entrepreneurs, only the top twenty-five students and their business ideas will be presented at the expo. Shoppers will have the opportunity to interact with the students while they exhibit their business plans and offer their products for sale. The JBU SIFE World Trade Expo has been in continuance for fourteen years. Earlier this year, JBU’s SIFE students held two seminars: one on the JBU campus and the other in Beebee, Ark. These seminars taught middle school students about business plans, team work, and expectations for participating at the mall. The students then submitted their own business plans and products, which JBU’s SIFE team judged and then chose the top twenty-five teams to present at the mall. The contestants will participate in a final round of competition this Friday, where judges will analyze their booth, business plan, product, and appearance. John Brown University is a private Christian university, ranked eighth by U.S. News & World Report in the Southern Region. JBU enrolls more than 1,800 students from 43 states and 39 countries. JBU is a member of Arkansas’ Independent Colleges and Universities and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
