JBU Women’s Soccer Gets Win in First Round of Tournament Play

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 29, 2004) - The John Brown women’s soccer team had a dominating win in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Golden Eagles, ranked fourth in the conference hosted fifth ranked St. Gregory’s Friday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the tournament.

Sophomore Nikki Ganter opened up the Eagles scoring with a goal off an assist by senior Kristin Snyder. Junior Katie Lawson put another point on the board with her unassisted goal, ending the first half with JBU up 2-0.

In the second half, JBU was able to hold on to the shut out and add to their score. Sophomore Amber Aparicio scored on a penalty kick. Then sophomore Kendra Rehner put the finishing touch on the game with a header off an assist by Aparicio, giving JBU the 4-0 win.

The Golden Eagles move on to the semi-final round of the tournament to be played on Monday, November 1. They will wait for results from other games around the conference to see who they will be playing.
