Oliver Named in Who’s Who

Dr. Gary J. Oliver is the Executive Director of the Center for Marriage and Family Studies.

Siloam Springs, Ark. (August 10, 2004) - For the fifth year, John Brown University’s Dr. Gary J. Oliver has been selected for the 2005 Who’s Who in America. Dr. Oliver is a husband, father, university and seminary professor, psychologist, author, executive director of the Center for Marriage and Family Studies and professor of psychology and practical theology at JBU. He received his bachelor’s degree from Biola University, a master of divinity from Talbot Theological Seminary, a master of theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a master of arts and a doctorate in psychology from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Dr. Oliver has over 30 years of experience in psychology, theology and marriage and family therapy. He is a licensed psychologist in Arkansas and Colorado. He has authored and co-authored 22 books including Raising Sons...and Loving It!, Good Women Get Angry, Raising Kids to Love Jesus, and Fears, Doubts, Blues & Pouts. Dr. Oliver has also written over 50 articles in national magazines and journals, he and his wife, Carrie, write a regular column in Marriage Partnership magazine, and he is the editor of Marriage & Family: A Christian Journal, a professional publication of The American Association of Christian Counselors. In addition to these publications, Dr. Oliver has authored many chapters in books on marriage, family and relationships during his work as a therapist, educator and minister. He and his wife, Carrie, and three sons, Nathan, Matthew and Andrew live in Siloam Springs. John Brown University’s Center for Marriage and Family Studies exists to assess, educate and provide resources, which strengthen and enrich individual, family and marriage relationships for a lifetime.
