Women Win Against Culver-Stockton; Lose vs College of the Ozarks

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 3, 2001) - The John Brown University women's basketball team bounced back after a season opening loss to crush Culver-Stockton University 83-57 on Saturday night. JBU was led by Senior Sofie Voordeckers with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Katie Elliot put in another stellar performance with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Amber Owens also contributed with 11 points and 8 rebound. JBU pulled away early leading by 18 points 51-32 at the break.

On Thursday night, JBU was unable to overcome a 23-10 free throw advantage to the host team College of the Ozarks, dropping the contest 68-59. JBU was led by Katie Elliot with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Amber Owens added 13 points and 5 rebounds for the Golden Eagles. The MVP of the Classic Lisa McIntosh of College of the Ozarks led the way for the Lady Bobcats with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Both Voordeckers and Elliot were voted to the All-Classic Team.
