Admissions Counselor

Position Summary

This position is responsible for recruiting, evaluating, and enrolling undergraduate students by engaging in strategic communication and effectively connecting students and parents to the brand and value of the JBU experience. The Admissions Counselor represents the university at various recruitment events, provides counseling to students and their families, and maintains relationships with high schools.

  • Desire to be a role model for students by demonstrating an active Christian faith in personal example and work-related responsibilities

Position Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed enrollment goals set by the university
  • Communicate information about all programs and services JBU offers and act as a liaison between prospective students and the JBU campus
  • Contact and communicate with prospective JBU students through voice, digital, and in-person methods
  • Collaborate with the Campus Experience Team to provide exceptional hospitality to all visitors
  • Maintain digital applicant files, recording contacts made and information provided
  • Track all documents required for admission, including applications, transcripts, test scores, references, deposits, health forms, and financial aid forms
  • Establish and maintain relationships with students and their families through systematic follow-up
  • Travel frequently to represent JBU at college fairs, churches, and schools, particularly within an assigned regional territory
  • Attend professional development workshops and conferences as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to provide high-quality customer service
  • Ability to self-manage multiple projects and complete work on time with minimal supervision

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Admissions Intern or Ambassador experience
  • Alumni of JBU
  • Understanding of the sales process
  • Fluent in English and Spanish

Bachelor’s Degree

Important Dates

Position begins late spring to early summer. The screening process begins February 25, 2026 and continues until the position is filled.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical demands: Frequent walking, standing, sitting, use of hands, reaching, balancing, stooping, talking, and hearing. Occasional lifting or moving of up to 15 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: Noise level is usually moderate.
