Why get your master's degree in education studies at JBU?

This program allows licensed teachers the opportunity to complete 30-hours of course work to add endorsement areas to their Arkansas teaching license. The endorsement options available are Special Education, Online Teaching and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.  Two endorsement areas are required. We believe that education makes a difference in students’ lives. This program will prepare you to serve students with compassion and care.

Enjoy a hybrid format

Half of your class sessions are completely online; the other half can be attended either face-to-face OR you can log in to attend online during class time. If you choose face-to-face, you will meet at the JBU Rogers Center.

Research-based classes

You'll learn practical, research-based strategies that you can immediately apply in your classroom.

Add endorsements

In this program, you'll be able to add endorsement areas such as SPED, TESOL, or Online Teaching to your teaching license, making you more marketable in the teaching landscape.

Program length

The M.Ed. in Education Studies is a 30-hour program. It can be completed in approximately 2 years. With a hybrid course offering featuring in-person or online courses, you'll have easy access to our expert faculty who have a wealth of experience in the classroom.

Our education studies classes feature a wide variety of discussions about theory rooted in research. You will be assigned coursework that is designed to assist you with implementing these strategies in your own classroom.

Dr. Curtis Cunningham | Chair, Teacher Education and Graduate Education, Assistant Professor of Teacher Education

Prior to coming to JBU, Dr. Cunningham worked for fourteen years in private and public schools. He has experience teaching Kindergarten, third and fourth grade in the regular classroom and teaching second and fifth grades in a program for gifted and talented students. He supported early-career teachers for six years as an instructional specialist before coming to JBU.
