The FAFSA calculates your estimated family contribution (EFC). JBU uses this number to determine if you qualify for federal aid and as a starting point for offering institutional need-based aid and work-study.
Scholarships and grants do not need to be repaid. Loans do have to be repaid. Certain grants, such as the TEACH Grant, may turn into loans if you do not continue to meet the conditions of the grant.
Let your admissions counselor know so they can explore additional opportunities with you.
The FAFSA should be submitted every year you intend to enroll.
Even if you think you won’t get anything in the form of federal aid, you should still file the FAFSA. JBU offers its own need-based aid based on your FAFSA results. The FAFSA is also required to determine work-study eligibility and for some state scholarships, like the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship.
If you are the recipient of an outside scholarship, please complete the Outside Scholarship Notification Form.
You will have full-time status if you enroll for at least 12 hours. Some scholarships, such as the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship, may require you to take additional hours each semester.
Some federal aid may be available to you as a part-time student, but JBU does not offer institutional aid to part-time students.
