Growing together as a Christ-centered community
What to expect
Become the worshiping creature God has made you to be
Gathering together as a community to worship God and grow in our faith is a vital part of JBU's Christ-centered education. It's a time to gain God’s perspective on our learning and grow together so that we might serve in the world as Jesus’ disciples.
Is chapel attendance required?
Chapel is an essential part of fulfilling JBU’s mission of providing Christ-centered higher education to our students. Therefore, attendance is mandatory.
- All full-time students (12 hours or more) and residential (on-campus) students are required to attend a minimum of 21 chapels per semester.
- At least 15 of those must be weekday “regular” chapels (generally Tuesdays and Thursdays). The remaining six (6) requirements may be any combination of regular chapels and/or services that are designated as “additional” chapel events, such as The Gathering (Sunday night student-led chapel) and other forums approved by the Office of Christian Formation.

Additional chapel opportunities include the student-led Gathering services, Vespers and other special events.
