Art Scholarship

We Offer $150,000 in Art Scholarships Per Year

These scholarships are designated for new first year students who are majoring in Art & Illustration, Digital Cinema, Graphic Design, Photography, or Visual FX. Twenty-five scholarships are awarded each year, and they are renewable for up to four years.

Scholarships will be awarded based on a portfolio review, faculty recommendation, academic standing and personal character. To set up a portfolio review meeting, please contact Jeannie Abbott. In order to be eligible for the 2020-2021 school year, you must submit an application and a copy of your portfolio. You can only apply from October 28 to November 11, 2019 OR from January 24 to February 20, 2020. This portfolio should be your best work, in any medium you choose: painting, drawing, design, photography, cinema, etc. Further instructions on applying are given below.

APPLICATIONS MAY ONLY BE SUBMITTED OCTOBER 28-NOVEMBER 11, 2019 AND JANUARY 24-FEBRUARY 10, 2020. THIS IS FOR BOTH FALL 2020 AND SPRING 2021 ENTRY.  The art scholarships for the 2019-2020 have been distributed but please contact the JBU Financial Aid office for additional scholarship opportunities.

Please fill out a Scholarship Application and create a digital portfolio. Please submit your application NO LATER than 5 PM on the date of the deadline so that we may send you a link to upload your digital portfolio NO LATER than midnight. We will try to contact you within 48 hours of receiving your application in order to email you a link to upload your portfolio. If you have any questions or complications, please contact us so that we can help.


This is a digital portfolio; therefore, it must be submitted digitally. If your work was not created digitally, you must photograph or scan it. You may only submit a maximum of 12 images. These images must be in the JPEG format with a maximum file size of 10MB. Video work may be submitted, but you may only submit up to five video files each with a maximum file size of 100 MB. If you have larger work you may upload your work to Vimeo and send us the link. When submitting your portfolio, you must name each file with your first initial followed by a period and your last name and then a sequential number (Example: K.Smith8.jpeg, K.Smith9.jpeg). If you would like, you can attach a separate document that lists the type of media used, size of art, date of completion, and if it is an abstract piece.
