Each year, 15-20 scholarships are designated for new first-year students majoring in Art & Illustration, Film, Graphic Design or Photography. The scholarships are renewable for up to four years provided recipients retain a major in the Visual Arts Department and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
You must be a new, first-time student at JBU majoring in art & illustration, film, graphic design or photography.
Students should complete the JBU admissions application before submitting an art scholarship application.
Scholarships will be awarded based on a portfolio review, JBU faculty recommendation, academic standing, personal character and quality of perceived aptitude. We have scholarships that are awarded based on Art & Talent, also have merit and financial need scholarships.
Please join us for the Preview Day – Art Emphasis Day on Monday, October 7th. The Art Professors will meet with you during our one-hour Portfolio Review and offer feedback before that will be beneficial to you before you submit your portfolio (click here to sign-up). If you are not able to attend the Art Emphasis Day you can set up a portfolio review meeting to ask one of our professors for their input, please contact April Shirley. This can be done in person or on Zoom but is entirely optional.
