Creciendo Juntos

Empowering Latino students to thrive in higher education

What is Creciendo Juntos? 

Creciendo Juntos (Growing Together) empowers Latino students living in the U.S. to flourish in higher education through a supportive community focused on mentorship, education and service, helping our students fulfill their God-given potential.

What does Creciendo Juntos do?

Creciendo Juntos seeks to serve the Latino community of JBU and the surrounding Northwest Arkansas community through several focus areas.

Ambassador

We share our knowledge and influence with high school students who are interested in college. We also visit students in their high schools and host visiting students on the JBU campus for individual visit days, preview days and Latino preview days.

Community

We create safe spaces where students can mutually support one another and form friendships. Through events like game nights and Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, we foster bonds between CJ members, our JBU community and surrounding communities.

Mentoring

We are eager to learn from those ahead of us as well as sharing with those behind us. Professionals in our community mentor our college students as they transition into their careers. Meanwhile, our college students mentor high school students as they transition into college. Learn more here.

Service

We invest in our community by giving our time, gifts, and experience through community service. We offer high school students support with college application completion and essay writing, and provide immersive workshops and summer programs.

I was born in San Jose, Costa Rica but grew up in Volcan, Panama. However, I moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, in the United States when I was 12. I am eager to see our Creciendo Juntos students supporting and serving each other, JBU and the community. We have such gifted, hardworking and servant hearted students and it is a joy to see them flourish despite the many challenges they often face.

Creciendo Juntos has made me get out of my bubble and meet amazing people. It's super important to me because I got to meet people with similar backgrounds that understand me.
