Division of Biblical Studies
The faculty of the Division of Biblical Studies is committed to the Bible as the Word of God and teaches from an evangelical, non-sectarian perspective.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Division of Biblical Studies to the University community is three-fold in nature. The first part of this mission is to equip each student at JBU to be biblically literate, historically rooted, theologically reflective, doctrinally sound and maturing in Christ-like formation in all relationships, for the glory of God. This aspect of mission is accomplished primarily by offering fourteen hours of course work in the core curriculum.
Second, because students have varied career and para-career goals, the Division of Biblical Studies offers a variety of majors and minors. These courses of study are designed to equip students with the skills, competencies and knowledge that are needed for vocational service in pastoral ministry, church education youth ministry, children’s ministry, camp and church recreation, cross-cultural missions and family and human service.
Finally, the Division offers courses to prepare students for seminary or graduate studies in fields related to the areas of study.
