The Office of Undergraduate Scholarship & Prestigious Fellowships exists to promote and support student involvement in prestigious fellowships, research, and other creative and scholarly endeavors as well as strengthen JBU's reputation as a place that fosters engaged learning and academic excellence.


Celebration of Academic Excellence 2019

Abstracts now being accepted.


The Office of Undergraduate Scholarship and Prestigious Fellowships welcomes submissions for the upcoming Undergraduate Research Conference at John Brown University. The Undergraduate Research Conference will be a part of the annual Celebration of Academic Excellence. Undergraduates in all disciplines are encouraged to submit their work for presentation. To be considered for participation, submit a 250-word abstract using the form at

The deadline for abstract submission is 5:00 pm, February 8, 2019. A panel of faculty reviewers will judge abstracts, and students will be notified of decisions by March 1. Successful applicants will present their work in 12-minute presentations, with an additional 3 minutes to field questions, at the conference on April 12. There are awards for the top presentations.

The conference will be held in Bynum Theater. Lunch will be provided to participants and session moderators. The lunch speaker will be Dr. O. Alan Noble. Dr. Noble is Assistant Professor of English at Oklahoma Baptist University, editor-in-chief of Christ and Pop Culture, and author of Disruptive Witness: Speaking Truth in a Distracted Age.
