OAC Trips & Events

Enjoy the Outdoors

The OAC sponsors several trips/events a year for the JBU community. These trips/events are led by Outdoor Leadership students and/or JBU Faculty/Staff who are trained to lead the activity. Below you will find a list of trips/events for the Spring 2018 semester - as well as any associated costs to participate.

Trips or Events labeled with an asterisk (*) require pre-registration.  You may register and pay (if there is a cost) for these trips and events at the bottom of this page.  

Day Trip to Climbing Gym

Date: Saturday, February 3, 2018
Time: 1:00-4:00pm (Depart OAC at 1:00pm)
Come enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the bouldering gym!  This is a great time to practice your skills, whether you are advanced or just a beginner! Transportation for 12 people is provided or you can meet us there!
Location:  Ozark Climbing Center, Springdale, AR
Cost:  $12 (Bring with you to pay at the climbing gym)

Campfire Breakfast Event

Dates:  Saturday, February 10, 2018
Time:  9:00am
Join us for a delicious meal cooked over a campfire at the fire pits west of the tennis courts.
  $4 (Pay in person at the breakfast)

Rock Climbing Trip at Lincoln Lake*

Date:  Saturday, April 21, 2018
Time:  Depart at 10:00am
Trip Leader:  TBD
Come and experience an authentic rock climbing expedition.  Bring a sack lunch.  Transportation is provided for 12 people or you can meet us there!
Cost:  $10 - For transportation

Backpacking Trip*

Date:  Saturday, March 10-11, 2018
Time:  Depart OAC at 10:00am
Trip Leader:  Davis Fulmer
Enjoy exploring the outdoors for a weekend at the beautiful Buffalo National River Area in Ponca, AR.
Cost:  $65 - Includes gear, transportation and food.
Spots Available:  12

Overnight Canoeing Expedition on the Buffalo River*

Date:  March 23-25, 2018
Time:  Depart OAC at 12:00pm on the 23rd and return on the evening of the 25th.
Trip Leader:  Zach Grant
Cost:  $80 - Includes gear, transportation and food.
Spots Available:  12

Mountain Biking at Slaughter Pen*

Date:  Saturday, April 7, 2018
Time:  Depart campus at 9:00am
Slaughter Pen Hollow Multi-Use Trail System boasts over 20 miles of trail and offers something for riders of all skill levels.  Join us for some fun on the trail and bring along a sack lunch.  Transportation for 12 people is provided by the OAC or you can meet us there.
Location:  Bentonville, AR
Cost:  $10 - For transportation

Evening Sunset Paddle

Date:  Wednesday, May 2 AND Thursday, May 3, 2018
Time:  Depart at 7:30pm from the OAC
Meet us out at our own City Lake for a beautiful and relaxing evening of paddling.  Canoes and life jackets are provided. 
Location:  Siloam Springs, City Lake



Scheduling a Trip

Step 1 of 2: Registration

To register, fill out the registration form below. A confirmation email will be sent you along with a list of what to bring for that trip. You will also receive a waiver form.  All participants must bring the signed waiver form and present it to the trip leader prior to leaving for the trip.

All participants on OAC sponsored trips will be required to attend the pre-trip meeting. Dates, times and location will be provided in the trip confirmation email.

Important Note: You will not be confirmed as registered until payment has been received.
