James Cooke graduated from JBU with a degree in history and is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Arkansas. His research interests include civil rights history, particularly transnational approaches, as well as the history of race relations. His masters thesis was a comparative study between the Northern Ireland civil rights movement, and the U.S. civil rights movement and he plans to expand the project to look at the process of racialization in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Cooke lives in Siloam Springs with his wife and son. Prior to starting his doctorate, he spent 6 years working in admissions. You can usually find him spending time with his family, enjoying a sunny day, or reading.
