Branson, Mo. (November 7, 2008) - The JBU women’s basketball team earned a 68-50 win over Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) on Friday evening during day one of the Ozarks (Mo.) Classic. The win moves the ladies to 2-0 for the year.
Micaela Cully paced JBU with 15 points after going 6-10 from the floor including 2-5 from beyond the arc. Two other JBU players also reached double digits on the night. Senior guard Claire Harrison and junior forward Lenece Glossett both scored 12. Glossett also grabbed six caroms.
JBU took a commanding 38-19 lead into the locker room and was able to use that cushion to their advantage as HLG managed to outscore JBU 31-30 in the second half.
Hannibal had two players reach double figures led by sophomore forward Angie Schwagmeyer with 14.
As a team, JBU held HLG to 27% (19-53) from the floor while nailing 41% (23-56) of their attempts. JBU also outrebounded the 38-33.
The Lady Golden Eagles return to the floor on Saturday at 1 p.m. to take on Cardinal Stritch (Wis.).
