Plainview, Texas (October 8, 2009) - The JBU women’s and men’s soccer teams both picked up easy conference road wins on Thursday evening after taking on Wayland Baptist (Texas) in SAC action. The women blanked WBU 3-0 while the men won 6-1.
With the win, the women improve to 6-4, 3-0 while the men move to 8-4, 2-1.
Sarah Kidd scored goals one and three and Jodi Knack scored the second all in the first half. Kidd’s goals came in the 16th and 38th minutes while Knack’s came in the 32nd. Alex McMichael and Robyn Cluka earned assists on the day.
JBU dominated every aspect of the game and claimed a 22-3 shots advantage with 13 on goal.
Faith Thurman and Britney Henderson split time in goal and both received credit for the shutout.
In the men’s game, the Golden Eagles cruised to an easy victory. Five different players contributed to the scoring event for JBU. Juan Iraola added two while Gabriel Duarte, Joel Thomas, Josh Baldwin, and Justin Thompson each scored one.
Trevor Burkhead put one on the board for WBU (0-10, 0-3) in the 78th minute.
JBU remains on the road on Saturday when they travel to Oklahoma City. Women play at 1 p.m. and men at 3 p.m.
