Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 14, 2008) - The JBU Golden Eagles men’s basketball team moved to 5-0 on the year after taking down Bacone (Okla.) on the road 87-73 on Thursday night.
JBU controlled momentum from the tip and was able to take a 13 point 41-28 lead into the break after a strong first half. The Warriors, however, came out fired up in the second half trading basket for basket with JBU, but they couldn’t overcome the first half deficit.
Senior Cody Page and frosh point guard Abel Galliguez paced JBU with 19 points each after combining for 7-17 from 3-point land. Sophomore guard Andrius Mikutis continued to be a surge off the bench for JBU adding 14 points, and freshman forward Adrian Miller pitched in with 10. Leading scorer Davaughn Jackson was one point and one rebound away from a double-double with nine points and nine caroms.
Bacone (1-2) got a huge lift from Chad Tyler after he went 10-21 including 8-12 from downtown to finish with 32 points. Ronnie Battle added 17 for the Warriors.
As a team, JBU outshot BC 48% (33-68) to 35% (25-72). The Golden Eagles also claimed the battle of the boards 51-30. JBU did, however, continue to struggle in the turnover category committing 30 on the night.
