Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 16, 2006) - Day two of the Mid America Nazarene Tournament brought tougher challenges to the Golden Eagles as they were only able to win the first of three matches.
John Brown opened the day dominating Dana (Neb.) in three games, 30-16, 30-18, 30-14.
They also opened their second match winning the first game 30-28, but Indiana Wesleyan pulled it together and was able to win the second game 30-26. John Brown regained a 2-1 lead after winning the third game 30-27 and hoped to finish off Indiana Wesleyan in the fourth. However, Indiana Wesleyan rallied back winning the fourth game 30-27 and forced a fifth and deciding game. Both teams exchanged points throughout the game, but Indiana Wesleyan was able to seal the victory winning the final game 15-13.
Although this was a tough loss, head coach Robyn Gordon was proud of her team's determination. "I’m proud of my team because the girls really worked hard to try and win this match, and it was tough to lose such a hard fought game," said Gordon. "We gave it our all and didn't have anything left for our final match versus Baker."
In the final match, John Brown fell to Baker (Kan.) 3-0.
Laurae Marty and Sam Rogoff each totaled 32 kills in today's matches. Juliana Todescan had 118 assists, 20 kills and eight blocks. Sophomore Aubrey Junker had 34 digs.
