JBU to Host Solo and Ensemble Concert

Siloam Springs, Ark (April 10, 2002) - John Brown University will host the 7th annual Region I Solo/Ensemble Music Festival on April 20. The all-day festival is sponsored by the Northwest Arkansas Choral Directors Association. It will feature 270 entries from 17 high schools, middle schools and junior high schools from Northwest Arkansas.

Performances will include 142 solos, 11 duets, 3 trios, 2 quartets and 18 small ensembles. They will be judged on tone quality, interpretation and presentation, technique, the musical value of the song and style.

A panel of 5 judges will judge the event, but there will only be one judge per performance. The judges come from all over Northwest Arkansas are choral directors at churches or schools. The judges have past experience judging other musical events.

John Brown University is a private university with an enrollment of over 1,600 students from 45 states and 33 countries. JBU is a member of the Arkansas Independent Colleges and Universities as well as the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
