Morency Named SAC Defensive Player of the Week
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- With a pair of saves against Bellevue (Neb.) on Friday (Aug. 26), senior keeper Kristen Morency has been named this week's Sooner Athletic Defensive Player of the Week, the conference offices announced Monday (Aug. 29).
The selection to the weekly honor roll is Monrecy's eighth of her career.
Morency needed a pair of saves, one in each half, to lock up John Brown's first one-goal victory of 2016. Her biggest save came in the 63rd minute when Bellevue's Whitney Pratt let go a shot from in close.
Morency, who is JBU's all-time career clean sheets leader with 28.1, currently ranks No. 30 nationally in goals-against per game (0.500). The Golden Eagles as a squad are No. 26 nationwide in goals allowed per match.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday (Aug. 30) when John Brown travels to Texas A&M-Texarkana (Ark.) at 7 p.m.
