Lady Eagles win third straight

Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 4, 2012) - The JBU women’s basketball team picked up a road win on Saturday afternoon by defeating Science & Arts of Okla. 65-56 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
With the win, the women improve to 12-12 overall and 6-10 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Sophomore Sierra Shipley paced JBU with 22 points and four rebounds, while junior Anna Parish added 10 points.
For USAO (5-18, 2-14), Tashina Ototivo had 16 followed by Liberty Payne with 13.
After leading 31-26 at halftime, JBU managed to increase their margin to 10, 40-30, after sophomore Jessica Berlin converted a three-point play.
USAO responded with a 7-2 run to creep back within five, 42-37. But the Golden Eagles exploded with a 13-1 run sparked by a trey from freshman Lauren Rogers and capped off with other 3-pointer from Parish to give JBU a 55-38 lead with less than six minutes left in the game.
USAO tried to fight their way back and managed to make it a single digit game, but time would expire eliminating their chance for a comeback.
For the game, JBU shot 35.7 percent (20-of-56), while USAO hit 39.6 percent 21-of-53). JBU continued to make shots from the foul line nailing 85.7 percent (18-of-21).
Up next, the women return to the road to face Oklahoma Christian on Thursday at 6 p.m. before facing Northwestern Okla. State at home next Saturday in their Sink Pink Game at 3 p.m.
