Lady Eagles fly over Oklahoma Baptist

The Lady Eagles beat Oklahoma Baptist University 65-52, making them 10-12, 4-10 in conference.

Sophomore Sierra Shipley was JBU's leading scorer with 15 points followed by senior Chelsea Garrison with 14.  Garrison led with nine rebounds followed by junior Anna Parish and Kim Garrison each with six.  Parish and freshman Lauren Rogers each contributed three of the Lady Eagle's total 12 assists.

For OBU (11-11, 7-7), Bridget Reynolds led in points and in rebounds with 14 points and eight rebounds.  Ashton Pittman followed her with 11 points and Lillian Prince followed in rebounds with six.  Charity Fowler led in assists, contributing four to the team's 10 total assists.

Sophomore Kortni Barenberg scored two points in the first minute of the game, starting JBU's five minute run that ended with an eight point lead.  OBU fought back, cutting the lead to three points until the Lady Eagles came back and had an 11 point lead seven minutes before the end of the first half.  Once again, OBU fought back and ended the half only three points behind. 

JBU started the started the half with a two minute run giving them a seven point lead.  The Lady Bisons fought back, cutting JBU's lead to two points when Raquel Dudzevich rebounded and made a shot in the paint.  The Lady Eagles then regained momentum, gaining a 10 point lead 10 minutes into the second half.  OBU attempted to fight back, at one point cutting the Lady Eagle's lead to six, but they were unable to recover.

Overall, JBU had a higher scoring percentage with 35.7 percent (20/65) to OBU's 30.8 percent (20/65).  OBU out-rebounded JBU 43 to 41.

The Lady Eagles will return to the Bill George Arena on Thursday to face Southern Nazarene University at 6 p.m.
