Golden Eagles blow by Evangels

Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 5, 2012) - The No. 20 JBU men’s basketball team put away Mid America Christian 85-61 on Thursday night to improve to 12-3 overall and 4-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Five JBU players finished in double figures led by seniors Adrian Miller and Andy Garcia, who both finished with double-doubles.  Miller notched 16 points, 10 boards, four assists, and two steals, while Garcia had 13 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.  Junior Coleson Rakestraw finished with 14, and juniors Abel Galliguez and EJ McWoods both added 11.

For MACU (5-7, 0-7), Charlie Shorter had a game high 23 points after going 8-of-22 from the floor.

JBU got off to a slow start, but after taking the lead off a Garcia bucket with 17:15 to go in the first half, it was all JBU the rest of the night.

The Eagles quickly turned a 10 point, 42-32, halftime lead into a 20 point, 66-46, lead midway through the second period after Rakestraw buried a three off the feed from Miller with 11:25 to go in the game.

JBU extended their lead to as many as 24 points before taking home the easy win.

For the game, JBU shot 52.5 percent (32-of-61) from the floor, while holding MACU to 32.3 percent (20-of-62).  JBU also dominated the glass with a 45-33 rebounding margin.  Both teams committed 15 turnovers.
