Men's soccer gets first win of season

Senior Joel Thomas scored the game winner on Saturday night versus Friends.

Wichita, Kan. (September 17, 2011) - The JBU men’s soccer team defeated Friends (Kan.) 1-0 on Saturday night in Wichita, Kansas.

With the win, JBU moves to 1-5 on the year. 

After a scoreless first period, the Golden Eagles managed to get on the board when junior Hunter Bradford snuck in behind the defense before feeding senior Joel Thomas who tapped in a shot for the goal.

JBU tightened up their defense the rest of the way only allowing Friends (1-5) two shots on goal for the second half. 

Sophomore keeper Pablo Garcia picked up two saves in the shutout victory.

Up next, JBU returns home on Tuesday to face NCAA Division II opponent Harding (Ark.) at 4 p.m.
